Pain. Chronic pain. Every joint, every muscle. This describes me, a sufferer of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
Does massage help?
You bet it does.
Two years ago I was given the good news – it wasn’t going to kill me, and the bad news – I had a double life sentence. Being the control freak that I am I wasn’t prepared just to sit and take the pills, so I started investigating. I have now built up a “Healthy Me” programme which along with the traditional pills includes massage, exercise, hypnotherapy, and meditation and lifestyle changes.
How can massage help when it hurts to touch your muscles?
My muscles are tense and massage relaxes them. Professional masseurs, like Malcolm and his team, have control over their strength. My first few massages Malcolm’s touch was feather light.
Now the applied pressure is deeper and stronger as over time my muscles have built up strength and flexibility. When my muscles are tense they pull on my joints which then hurt too, ( or visa versa; hurting joints cause stress which results in muscle tension). By massaging and relaxing the muscles it relieves the joint pain so I win both ways.
My fortnightly massages are something I look forward to and always feel better after.”
Thank you “Gentle Giant”.
